The Magpies are considering a number on loan options as they look to make their next breakthrough in the transfer market.

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is the latest player said to be on Newcastle United’s radar as they look to add to their attacking options.

The Magpies have endured a number of blows in the transfer market over the last three weeks and have not added a new signing to their squad since Sven Botman completed a move to Tyneside in early July.

Recent reports have suggested the Magpies have made enquiries over possible loan deals for several players from top six clubs with Chelsea duo Armando Broja and Callum Hudson-Odoi mentioned as possible targets.

However, it is another Blues player that is believed to be under consideration by the Magpies hierarchy.

Former Borussia Dortmund star Pulisic has struggled to find a consistent place in Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup despite showing flashes of his undoubted ability during his three-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

The United States international was named as a substitute in Saturday’s Premier League opener at Everton and came off the bench to feature for the last 25 minutes as his side claimed a 1-0 win at Goodison Park.

Pulisic recently revealed he has held talks with new Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and spoke of his hopes for the new season with the club.

“I’ve had conversations with the owners. It’s cool having some American guys around,” he revealed.

“It’s mostly focusing on what’s going on at Chelsea, what’s happening in pre-season.

“We are excited to get the season started. I am focused on how I can help this team right now and in the near future.”

The Athletic have reported Newcastle are interested in Pulisic as they look to add a winger to their squad before the transfer window closes next month - but it is expected he will remain at Stamford Bridge for the season.
