Newcastle United are set to visit America this summer as part of their preparations for the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.

Eddie Howe’s side had arranged to go to the US last pre-season to compete against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Valencia and Villarreal for the Ohio Cup, however, it was cancelled by organisers at short notice.

But according to The Athletic, United will travel outside of Europe this summer and fly over to America’s East Coast - Philadelphia, Atlanta and New Jersey - at the end of July for a series of round-robin friendlies.

Newcastle are expected to be joined by six England clubs - including Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea. The tournament is part of the Premier League’s drive for further global expansion.

The Magpies last travelled to the US in 2015 when Steve McClaren was head coach and played against Sacramento Republic and Portland Timbers.
