Newcastle United line-up move for nine-goal star after £21m transfer approach
Officials from Charlotte FC landed in London on Monday in an ambitious attempt to bring the 30-year-old back to the MLS. Almiron remains the league’s record sale after the Magpies paid a then club-record £21million in January 2019.
There have been major question marks over Almiron’s future since he turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League at the beginning of the year. As reported by NewcastleWorld, United were willing to let him leave but the player himself decided against making such a major move mid-season.

Hide AdSpeculation has continued into the summer with Charlotte currently at the table. Although negotiations are ongoing, there is a feeling that the Paraguayan will remain at St James’ Park.
Almiron, with two years left on his contract, is a player Newcastle can command a reasonably high fee for, and that is likely to be out of Charlotte’s budget when you consider a record transfer for a MLS club is £12.5m. There is also the added pressure of the MLS transfer window closing on Wednesday.
"He has been unbelievable for Newcastle,” said Eddie Howe said on Almiron recently. “Long before I came but since I have been here he has been an absolutely pivotal and key player.
"We love him, we love his personality and we love working with him. And he's come back with a big smile on his face. So I am looking forward to working with him again."

Madueke signed a seven-year contract when he joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven for £29m in January 2023. He has scored nine goals in 46 appearances, although had struggled to nail down a regular spot in the starting XI until the back end of last season.
He is still only 22-years-old and has represented England from under-16s to under-21s level.
With United looking to close out a £60m for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, Howe has suggested sales will be required in order to strengthen other areas of the team.
