A new partnership between Newcastle United and SAUDIA has been teased on social media.

A new Newcastle United sponsorship deal has been teased on social media.

SAUDIA - Saudi Arabia’s national airline - posted ‘Stay Tooned’ on X accompanied by a video showing St James’ Park behind the clouds. Supporters are now speculating what it could mean.

Newcastle previously partnered up with SAUDIA in December last year for their warm weather training camp in Riyadh.

SAUDIA were the club’s Official Tour Airline Partner as Eddie Howe’s side spent a week in the Gulf Kingdom before taking on Al Hilal as part of the 2022 Diriyah Season.

Commenting on the partnership at the time, Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, said: “Whilst Newcastle United is on an exciting and ambitious journey to grow our global reach and fanbase, we are also very focussed on growing our fan base and following in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East.

“Our ambition is to become the most supported English Premier League football team in Saudi Arabia; a country whose population includes a large, young, passionate and highly engaged football community.

“We are delighted to partner with SAUDIA as our official tour airline partner, and we look forward to working with them during our trip to Riyadh and for the remainder of the 2022/23 English Premier League Season.”

Newcastle’s commercial department has been busy over the summer.

In June, it was announced Saudia Arabian events company Sela had signed a multi-year deal - believed to be worth £25million-a-year - to become Newcastle’s front-of-shirt-sponsor.

It was then confirmed in September that United would be ditching current kit manufacturers Castore in favour of reuniting with Adidas from the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.

Adidas’ nostalgic return as kit suppliers was leaked by Amazon when they inadvertently released the fourth episode of ‘We Are Newcastle United’ prior to the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday, August 19.

The episode was taken down on the same day but by that point, the news was out - two weeks early.

It showed members of United’s board, including co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, plus Chief Executive Officer Darren Eales and Chief Commercial Officer Pete Silverstone visiting Adidas’ headquarters in Germany.

The clip was narrated by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, who said: “The club meet with Adidas to strike the biggest deal in the history of the club. One which would be worth hundreds of millions over an initial five-year period”. Ghodoussi also described it as “two old lovers getting back together”.
