I worked closely with Newcastle United new signing Ewan Jaouen - he can be one of the world's best
Newcastle United new signing Ewan Jaouen has been tipped to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Former Chelsea head of goalkeeping Christophe Lollichon believes Ewen Jaouen can become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Jaouen was announced as Newcastle United’s first summer signing earlier this week after joining from Stade de Reims for £18million.
The 20-year-old kept 15 clean sheets last season - the most in Ligue 2, and conceded just 35 goals in 34 games as the Magpies fought off competition from several clubs to seal his signature.
Jaouen came through the youth academy at Guingamp before joining Reims in 2023 but had to wait three years before making his senior debut.
The France youth international had a brief loan spell at Rodez before spending the 2024-25 campaign Dunkerque, where he was directly under Lollichon.

And Lollichon, who coached the likes of Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois believes Jaouen has the potential to become a “world top 10 player”.
“He arrived in Dunkirk with great humility,” Lollichon told L’Union back in March. “Ewen is someone who doesn't give up. He doesn't get angry, and he's very observant of the context he's in.
“He may seem nonchalant but he remains very active in his perception of things, in his reading of the game. His body does not express it but in his head, it boils. We feel that he has become much more consistent in his concentration.
“His room for improvement is still very significant. I don't know his limits. He is someone who loves football, and if he is willing to put in all the effort to go to the top and stay there, he can become a world Top 10 player.
“In any case, he has many arguments on his side. Together, we laughed a lot. I wish him the best because he deserves it, and I also wish him to continue to deserve it.”
NewcastleWorld understands Jaouen has been signed as a number two, but who will be number one is currently uncertain.
The Magpies remain interested in signing James Trafford from Manchester City. If he were to arrive then that would almost certainly see Nick Pope leave the club.
