Newcastle United edged out Championship side Millwall 1-0 to advance into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Matthias Jaissle made three changes from Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League as Fabian Schar, Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy came in for Malick Thiaw, Lewis Miley and Anthony Elanga.
The Magpies had 14 efforts at goal in the first half but only registered one on target as Joe Willock stung the palms of former Gateshead loanee Filip Marschall.
It would be Willock who would send United into the next round when he got on the end of Lewis Hall’s low cross in the 81st minute.
Here are our Newcastle United player ratings:

6. Lewis Hall - 7.5
Regular threat down the left and delivered the cross that led to Joe Willock’s opener late on. Dug deep defensively at times too. | Getty Images

7. Nico Gonzalez - 5.5
Found Amar Dedic early on like he did at Tottenham but played a lot of his passes safe. Had some questionable moments out of possession. | AFP via Getty Images

8. Jacob Ramsey - 6
Kept demanding the ball from deep. Pretty faultless in the first half but became a bit sloppy in the second half. | AFP via Getty Images
