Newcastle United edged out Championship side Millwall 1-0 to advance into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Matthias Jaissle made three changes from Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League as Fabian Schar, Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy came in for Malick Thiaw, Lewis Miley and Anthony Elanga.
The Magpies had 14 efforts at goal in the first half but only registered one on target as Joe Willock stung the palms of former Gateshead loanee Filip Marschall.
It would be Willock who would send United into the next round when he got on the end of Lewis Hall’s low cross in the 81st minute.
Here are our Newcastle United player ratings:

9. Jacob Murphy - 4
Could see what he was going to do before the ball even reached him. Very predictable. Next to nothing came off for him. | Getty Images

10. Harvey Barnes - 6
Left on the pitch as he is one of few Newcastle players who looks capable of scoring a goal. Part of a left side where NUFC found their most joy. | AFP via Getty Images

11. Joe Willock - 7
Played most of the game as a striker and ran himself into the ground. Lacked quality for the most part but came up trumps when it mattered late on. | AFP via Getty Images

12. Yoane Wissa - 6
Captain for the evening. Kept coming deep to try and make things happen. | Getty Images
