Newcastle United moved level on points with fifth place Manchester City with a 1-0 win against West Ham United.
In a game that was low on quality, the Magpies managed to come away with three points via Bruno Guimaraes’ strike midway through the second-half.
Eddie Howe made three changes from the FA Cup fifth round defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Nick Pope replaced Martin Dubravka in goal, while captain Bruno Guimaraes returned to the midfield in place of Lewis Miley. Jacob Murphy came in for the suspended Anthony Gordon.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Sean Neave was named on a bench featuring the likes of Callum Wilson, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff.
Harvey Barnes, playing on the left in Gordon’s absence, twice came close to opening the scoring in the first-half before setting up Guimaraes’ in the 63rd minute.
Barnes delivered an in-swinging cross and the Brazilian stayed onside to slid the ball home.

2. Nick Pope - 6
Selected ahead of Martin Dubravka and didn’t have much to do bar a simple save to deny Jarrod Bowen in the first-half. Again looked nervy with the ball at his feet but reacted well off his line. | AFP via Getty Images

3. Kieran Trippier - 7
A solid display at right-back, despite playing a couple of wayward passes. Got back well to prevent Mohammed Kudus from having a clear shot at goal. | Getty Images

4. Fabian Schar - 5
Kept hitting the ball long into areas but struggled to pick out a teammate. | Getty Images
