Eddie Howe will be desperate to seize upon the momentum built up during the back-end of this season by snapping up some key arrivals.

Financial Fair Play rules mean Newcastle can’t go into all-out spending mode, but high-profile arrivals are expected.

Magpies fans will be as excited for window as they are for next season, and as Howe works towards those new deals, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours:

Paqueta talk

Newcastle are being backed to pull off a club-record deal this summer.

According to The Times, the Magpies are eyeing a deal for Olympique Lyon star Lucas Paqueta.

Paqueta netted 11 and assisted seven for Lyon this season, and he is seen as the answer as Howe looks to add more creativity to his midfield.

According to the report, the Magpies are considering a £50million deal, and that would surpass the club-record signing of Bruno Guimaraes last winter.

Lyon will be set for a quick profit on Paqueta if they do sell, having snapped him up from AC Milan for just £18m two years ago.

Saliba blow

Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Arsenal centre-back William Saliba.

Howe is likely to add to his defence this summer, and Saliba has been linked with a move, but there is talk Arsenal want to keep the Frenchman, as per journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Saliba has been on loan with Marseille this season, and the French club have also confirmed they will try to sign the centre-back.

Given both of those aspects, it is likely Newcastle will have to look elsewhere to land a centre-back.
