Newcastle United release incredible training ground footage as upgrade nears completion

Newcastle United have given supporters a video tour of their new-look training ground - highlighting several top-class improvements.

Construction and renovation work at the club’s Benton training centre has been ongoing since last summer after the club’s Saudi Arabian-led owners moved to upgrade the current facility that “fell significantly below the Premier League and perhaps even Championship standards”

As well as constructing a new purpose-built single-story building, which houses a hydrotherapy pool, plunge pools and new player changing rooms, the existing building has been renovated to include an updated presentation room, a modern players’ lounge and a new, bigger dining area.

The tour was hosted by former Magpies striker and current loan manager Shola Ameobi, which resembled the iconic MTV Cribs show he took part in mid-2000s.

The upgrade to United’s current training complex is a short to medium-term fix, with the club’s owners pledging to invest in building a new state-of-the-art facility elsewhere.
