Newcastle United release statement as three Premier League fixtures rescheduled

Newcastle United supporters must change their plans for games against Leicester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa in the coming weeks.

UK broadcasters have chosen those games to be aired and, as a result, the Premier League announced a tweak in the fixture list. Two away games - at Leicester and Villa - have been moved, with the former set to take place on Monday, April 7.

The trip to Villa Park will take place on the same day but now occupies Sky Sports’ primetime 5.30pm slot on Saturday, April 19. Sandwiched in between those games is a top-flight clash with Man United.

Newcastle have not completed a league double over the Red Devils since the 1930-31 campaign. They will welcome a Man United side who sit 14th - providing a perfect chance to end the hoodoo.

Originally proposed for Saturday, April 12, the fixture has been rescheduled for the following day, with a 4.30pm kick-off time. Newcastle confirmed the amendments via the club website earlier today.

“Three upcoming Newcastle United fixtures have been rescheduled in the latest round of Premier League fixture amendments, an announcement read. “The Magpies' trip to Leicester City - which was initially set for Saturday, 5th April at 3pm BST - will now be played on Monday, 7th April, kicking off at 8pm BST.

Eddie Howe's side will now face Manchester United at St James' Park on Sunday, 13th April at 4:30pm BST instead of Saturday, 12th April at 3pm BST as initially scheduled. And United's trip to Aston Villa on Saturday, 19th April will now kick-off at 5:30pm BST, instead of 3pm BST.

“All three fixtures will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Any further alterations to the club's fixture schedule will be communicated at the earliest opportunity.”
