Newcastle United have enjoyed a solid start to the season so far, but they will feel there is more to come.

The Magpies will be keen to build on their goalless draw with Crystal Palace last weekend, but their season is on hold due to the passing of the Queen.

It’s unclear when Newcastle will play next, with clubs fearing next weekend’s games could also be postponed.

But Eddie Howe and his men will be focussed on being ready for the return to action, and in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding St James’ Park.

Karius transfer

Newcastle are on the verge of signing former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.

The Magpies have lost number two goalkeeper Karl Darlow to injury, and having loaned out Martin Dubravka, they need extra cover.

Karius is a free agent after leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract, though he has spent the last three years out on loan with Besiktas and Union Berlin.

And it’s reported by Florian Plettenberg that a short-term deal will be agreed with Newcastle shortly.

The German was once a regular at Liverpool, but he endured something of a downfall amid a slew of mistakes culminating in a clumsy performance in the 2018 Champions League final.

Santos interest

The Magpies continue to be linked with a move to Santos youngster Andrey Santos.

The Vasco da Gama starlet was linked earlier this week, and iNews have provided some extra details.

According to the report, the Magpies have a chance of stealing a march on rivals over the transfer due to a ‘growing contact base’ in Brazil.

Santos is an 18-year-old prodigy who has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

A price tag as high as £30million has been mentioned.
