Newcastle United will reportedly rekindle their interest in Watford attacker Joao Pedro this summer. The Toon Army were linked with the Brazilian last year and he appears to have emerged back on their transfer radar now.

According to a report by Football Insider, Eddie Howe’s side have ‘concrete interest’ in the 21-year-old ahead of the next transfer window. He has stayed put at Vicarage Road this term in the Championship but his future is uncertain heading into the next campaign.

Newcastle could see Pedro as one for the future at St. James’ Park. He would provide them with more competition and depth in attacking areas which would be useful, especially if they end up getting into Europe.

Pedro moved to England back in 2020 after rising up through the youth ranks at Fluminense and he has been a key player for Watford ever since. He has made 106 appearances for the Hertfordshire outfit to date and has chipped in with 23 goals, 10 of which have come this season.

The forward helped the Hornets win promotion from the second tier back in 2021 but couldn’t prevent them from slipping back out of the top flight last year. They are now struggling to make the play-offs and could lose their main man with Newcastle in the frame to land his signature.
