Newcastle United are again without Sean Longstaff for Tuesday evening's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Geordie midfielder picked up an ankle injury in the 2-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth before the international break and missed the 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

And Longstaff's absence stretches into the Paris trip with head coach Eddie Howe providing a tongue-in-cheek response when asked about his availability.

He replied: "Quite remote as he hasn't travelled so I doubt it."

Howe confirmed the squad is how it was versus Chelsea with the 45-year-old unable to provide an update on Joe Willock, who has gone to see a specialist after sustaining a new Achilles injury.

Four players - Matt Ritchie, Mark Gillespie, Amadou Diallo and Alex Murphy - are forced to drop out of the matchday squad due to being ineligible.

They add to an already lengthy absentee list. United are are without 14 first-team players with the likes of Sven Botman, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson sidelined through injury.
