Newcastle United endured a minor setback over the weekend after drawing with Crystal Palace away from home.

In the end, the Magpies gained on Manchester United, but Tottenham managed to make up ground on the top four with a win over Fulham on Monday night. Newcastle are now turning their attention to the Carabao Cup, facing Southampton in the first of two semi-final legs on Tuesday night, with the second leg coming exactly a week after.

In the meantime, Eddie Howe will continue to scour the market for potential signings, and with that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding St James’ Park.

McTominay update

Newcastle are still said to be interested in signing Manchester United star Scott McTominay during this window.

The Athletic say Newcastle are pressing to sign the Red Devils star, who actually started for United against Arsenal over the weekend, with Casemiro suspended. United are said to be reluctant to lose the Scotland international this month, but McTominay could yet ask to leave to secure more regular football, with a loan move most likely.

Newcastle may be up against it with a week remaining in the window, but they are still said to be keen on securing a deal.

AC Milan are said to be interested in a move for Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Milan may miss out on Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo, and their next stop could be the Frenchman. Newcastle will not want to lose a key player during this window, with Howe not likely wanting to offload any key players in the next week, and they would likely slap a huge price tag on the winger.

But it’s still being claimed Milan could be interested in chasing a deal, potentially setting the stage for late drama in the January window.
