Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey limped out of the Magpies’ 3-2 friendly loss to Benfica - giving Eddie Howe a potential Premier League headache.

Hide AdThe veteran midfielder has been one of the shining lights of pre-season so far, but was forced off mid way through the second half of the Estadio da Luz loss.
Miguel Almiron netted twice for United, while Goncalo Ramos, Alex Grimaldo and Araujo sealed victory for the home side.
But after Howe made 11 changes at the break, he was forced into another as Shelvey pulled up. Matty Longstaff replaced the former Liverpool, Swansea City and Charlton man.

And it remains to be seen whether Shelvey will be fit for the encounter.
