The Southampton youngster was tracked by Newcastle United before he joined Chelsea.

Teenager midfielder Tyler Dibling has returned to Southampton - just three weeks after leaving to join Chelsea.

The highly-rated 16-year-old attracted interest from a number of clubs - including Newcastle United - before the Blues won the race for his signature.

After his contract at the South Coast club expired, Dibling revealed his excitement at joining Chelsea this summer.

However, as per various reports, Dibling has made a swift return to St Mary’s after struggling to settle in West London.

Prior to his short Chelsea switch, Dibling had trained with Southampton’s first-team last season.

“He was training with us in the week, and showed some good moves,” said manager Ralph Hassenhuttl.

“For me, it’s good to give him a chance to be around the team, to get a feeling for the atmosphere in a Premier League game, and this is good for him.”

Newcastle had tracked his progress but Dibling will remain at Southampton and continue his development.
