Newcastle United have triggered excitement among supporters on social media - with Adidas yet to release the away and third strips

Newcastle United supporters are gearing up for another iconic shirt release after the club’s latest tease on social media.

Hundreds of supporters queued outside St James’ Park last month once the 2024-25 home jersey was released. Huge anticipation around the release hinged on Adidas returning after 14 years.

Toon chiefs agreed to a £40million per season deal with the German sports giants - reuniting a famous partnership from 1995 to 2010. They cut the Castore agreement short due to negative feedback from fans over availability and quality control.

Peter Silverstone, Newcastle’s Chief Commercial Officer, hinted at Adidas having bold plans for the kit launches. He said earlier this year: “Adidas have some pretty extraordinary launch plans for us, which will put us on a global marketing platform, which is fantastic.

“The bigger we build our brand, the more other partners want to partner with us. Growing up, everybody is probably aware of the game-changing products and kits that Adidas designed for Newcastle United in the 1990s. Some of those designs will inform current kits.

“In my time at Arsenal, we brought back the bruised banana kit, and that was incredibly successful from both a fan perspective and also a culture perspective. Some of these iconic kits are culturally relevant to all football fans.”

Fans are now waiting patiently after the club’s media channel hinted at an imminent announcement. Eddie Howe and Co have just landed in Japan for the pre-season tour - and Tokyo has been lit green and white.

Adidas and Newcastle’s logo was also emblazoned on buildings in the expected colours for the yet-to-be-released shirt. NewcastleWorld understands the Magpies are set to release a design paying homage to the 1999 away jersey.
