Newcastle United telling time wasting figures against Arsenal, Liverpool and rivals after Eddie Howe comments

Time wasting is an accusation that has been frequently thrown at Newcastle United this season but on Sunday Eddie Howe claimed Arsenal had employed the tactics.

After Arsenal claimed a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, Magpies boss Eddie Howe was quick to throw a time-wasting claim at the Gunners.

The manager claimed that Mikel Arteta's side made the game "very stop-start" as they saw out a win that keeps them in the Premier League title race with Manchester City.

The loss was a blow for an in-form Newcastle side, but shouldn't cause too much damage in their pursuit of Champions League football next year.

While the North East club have been accused of time-wasting tactics this season, it was Howe who threw that grudge at Arsenal at the weekend.

Speaking after the match, Howe said: “It was frustrating. We wanted the ball in play, we wanted to find our rhythm. It was very stop-start. That was suiting, of course, the away team. As the home team, you want the ball in play.”

NewcastleWorld puts some statistics behind those accusations and looks at the Premier League sides that take the longest to restart play from a goal kick with data from Opta.
