The Magpies are now being linked with a South American striker who has been one of Europe’s in form forwards this season and is described as ‘highly rated’ by reports. Elsewhere, United are also said to be interested in a West Ham star who the Hammers beat them to the signing of three years ago. Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer news stories on Friday, April 7:

Newcastle United ‘eyeing move’ for ‘highly rated’ frontman

Newcastle United are being tipped to make a move for highly-rated Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, according to TeamTALK via reports in Spain. The article references a report from La Razon which claims that the Magpies could make a move for the 21-year old this summer.

Gimenez has scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Dutch club this season including nine goals in the Eredivisie. There may be competition from Premier League rivals for his signature though with Aston Villa having previously been credited with an interest.

West Ham star ‘back on Newcastle’s wanted list’

Per a report from TalkSPORT, West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen is back on Newcastle’s wanted list – three years after he almost joined the Magpies. It is claimed that Eddie Howe is a long-term admirer of the 26-year old who will ‘almost certainly’ be leaving the Hammers in the summer if they are relegated to the EFL Championship.

Bowen joined the Hammers for £18 million in 2020 from Hull City with Newcastle understood to also have been heavily interested at the time. Since then the attacker has scored 37 goals in 143 appearances across all competitions for the capital club and has also earned four caps for the England men’s national side.
