Two of Newcastle United's Premier League rivals are closing in on new investment and are expected to have new owners in the near future.

Everton, who are still reeling from their 10-point deduction as punishment for breaking Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, agreed a deal with United States-based investment group 777 Partners last month and are awaiting the green light to complete the move from the Premier League.

The on-off saga surrounding Manchester United's prolonged takeover seems to be approaching a successful conclusion as lifelong Red Devils supporter Sir Jim Ratcliffe is awaiting confirmation of the purchase of a 25% stake in the 13-time Premier League champions.

With more new money pouring into the Premier League, achieving success will become even more difficult as clubs become wealthier and even more ambitious.
