Newcastle United are set to loan Yankuba Minteh out to Feyenoord again next season, according to reports.

An impressive 10 goals and six assists has the Dutch outfit clamouring for his return. Earlier this year, Minteh outlined his long-term goal is to become a success on Tyneside.

“Ultimately, the Premier League is my goal,” he said. “Newcastle United is the club that have a lot of confidence in me. I have no idea what the future looks like. I was in Newcastle once, when they played against Borussia Dortmund.

“I will hear soon what plans the club has for me. I’m still young, I have time, maybe they want to loan me out again. I don’t know yet, I’ll hear about it.I’ll let everything happen to me. I know only that one day I will play in the Premier League (for Newcastle).”

But Feyenoord have made no secret of their desire to re-sign Minteh on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old has played in two cup finals - winning one - and the Champions League joining the Eredivisie club.

That is a fast learning curve for a player who, just two years ago, was playing for Steve Biko FC in Gambia. Feyenoord boss Arne Slot - expected to take charge at Liverpool - feared losing Minteh to Newcastle next season.

However, iNews report that noises in Dutch are confident the winger will be allowed back out on loan. Newcastle could yet take a look at Minteh in pre-season before making a final decision, with many backing him as Miguel Almiron’s long-term successor.
