Eddie Howe has denied that Newcastle United have made an approach to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

There has been speculation surrounding the Scotland international’s future after falling out of favour under Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

It’s been suggested that Newcastle had lodged an enquiry for the midfielder but Howe has denied that to be the case.

“That’s not true,” said Howe, speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Fulham.

Howe, however, did not rule out signing a player from the loan market during this month’s transfer window.

He added: “The loan market is always a big option for us but getting the right player on loan is very difficult, so we’ll wait and see.”
