Non-league outfit Hanwell Town have enjoyed another moment of viral fame after being featured on the Footy Scran Twitter page.

The London club was founded 103 years ago by homesick Newcastle United fans living and working in the capital as a homage to their roots.

Hanwell play in black and white and are known as the Geordies thanks to the link with the North East.

Last year thousands of Newcastle United fans found out about the club for the first time which led to an influx of followers for Hanwell, club kit flying off the shelves and even in-person visits when the Magpies travelled to nearby Brentford.

Hanwell Town has become one of non-league's most well-known clubs as a result and there was more social media fame for the team recently as a pizza served at The Powerday Stadium was shared by Footy Scran, a Twitter account with over 500,000 followers.

The pepperoni pizza is a thing of beauty and picked up over 4,700 likes online as food-loving football fans stopped by the replies to rate the meal, which cost £10 at the ground.

From "Peter Scran" to "Alisscran Becker" and "Scran-Dab-Edozie", users were in good humour as they eyed up the pizza.

Others wrote "proper pizza that" and "that looks solid, I am astounded how good that pizza looks for a football ground".

Hanwell Town's Head of Marketing and Social Media Elsa spoke to NewcastleWorld last year after busloads of Newcastle fans visited Hanwell before watching the match at Brentford.

She said: "We welcomed our first batch of fans at about 11 am. From then, one coach turned up, and then another batch of fans in cars, and then around 11:30 am another coach turned up.

"I think we ended with about 200 people, which was brilliant. To have a chunk of travelling fans at Hanwell was actually quite emotional.

"We work so hard on our social media and on everything. For people to come along and to meet them was amazing.

"We had our fans and our season ticket holders there. Our chairman Bob Fisher is 82 years old and has been at the club for over 50 years.

"He was personally shaking everyone's hand and saying thank you, to see him so happy was really nice. He thanked them all at the end for coming as well.

"Our director and CEO were there behind the bar helping out. Everyone dug in. Our fans were there selling merchandise. It was a real team effort.

"The day went the best it could and we're really proud of how we showed the club off."
