A euphoric Sam Fender was one of thousands and thousands of Newcastle United fans who could hardly believe what they were seeing as the Magpies trounced Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park.

It was one of Newcastle's biggest fixtures of the season as Spurs rolled into the North East as both clubs chase an all-important Champions League spot for next season.

United fans had barely got their bums in seats at the cathedral on the hill before Jacob Murphy opened the scoring with little over 60 seconds on the clock.

Heart rates were still racing when Brazilian Joelinton found the net just four minutes later and it was total dreamland as an incredulous Murphy slotted in for three after nine minutes.

Delirium took over Newcastle and it was felt by North Shields star Sam Fender who was watching the match on television with pals.

The 'Seventeen Going Under' singer is a huge Newcastle fan, regularly sporting the club's merchandise and famously partying with fans outside St James' Park on takeover day.

Posting on his Instagram story on Sunday afternoon, Fender filmed celebrations in the house as he shouted, "What is going on man?".

He let out a long sound of celebration which, with all the emotion, came out as "poooo" and chuckled at the "voice break".

The star nor any Newcastle United fan would have expected the side to go on and find another two by the 21st-minute courtesy of Alexander Isak before eventually winning the match 6-1.

Fender is also set to play two landmark shows at St James' Park this June with over 100,000 tickets for the event selling out in minutes.

When announcing those shows, he said: "Ever since I started this band, I always used to joke with the boys that one day we might play St James' Park in Newcastle.

"It's a childhood dream come true, and we're actually gonna play it on the 9th June. This is literally gonna be the biggest show we've ever done - our first stadium show, which is so weird to say! I can't wait, it's gonna be absolutely lush and I hope to see yas all there."
