Howe has been backed with big-money signings like Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes this summer, though Allan Saint-Maximin looks set to be sacrificed to balance the books.

While Newcastle were deserving of their top four finish last season, they were aided by the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all enduring difficult seasons, and all three are likely to come back with a vengence this coming season. Though, the latest predictions for the new season suggest Newcastle could still improve on their last campaign.

According to data from BetVictor, Newcastle are most likely to finish third this season, and pretty comfortably, backed to wind up with 75 points. That would put them six points ahead of Liverpool in fourth pplace and eight ahead of Brighton in fifth. The data suggests a sixth place finish for Manchester United and another disappointing season for Chelsea, who are backed to finish in 10th.

Manchester City are being backed to win the league with 85 points, nine points ahead of Arsenal, while Luton Town, Bournemouth and Sheffield United are being backed to suffer relegation. Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Everton and Burnley are being predicted to beat the drop next term.
