Bruno Guimaraes has revealed the key role Joelinton has played in helping him settle at Newcastle United.

The 24-year-old central midfielder arrived on Tyneside for the first time on Friday afternoon following his £33.5million plus adds-on move from Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Guimaraes finalised his move to Newcastle whilst on international duty with Brazil. Then, before travelling to the North East, Guimaraes had to return to France to gain his work permit.

Not long after Guimaraes landed in Newcastle, he was driven up to St James’ Park to train and meet with his new teammates.

That was captured by the club’s media team and supporters quickly noticed an embrace between Guimaraes and his fellow Brazilian Joelinton.

Speaking at his unveiling, Guimaraes detailed exactly how Joelinton has been helping him settle in.

“I’m really enjoying it,” Guimaraes said. “I’ve got my colleagues to communicate, sometimes in Spanish and Portuguese.

“Joelinton has been helping me settle in with my teammates and I’m really happy with the way I’ve been made welcome by everybody.

“He (Joelinton) sent me a message when I was on my way here and at training he is really helping me as much as possible.

“I spend all my time with him. I really hope we can have a great Brazilian double act here at Newcastle.

“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League,” Guimaraes said.

“I think Newcastle have presented a really interesting project and I was so happy with the trust and faith that the directors and president placed in me.

“I’ll do my best. I’m a central midfielder, I like possession of the ball and I’m looking forward to helping my teammates, club and manager.”
