It seems AC Milan fans still have faith in Sandro Tonali following the footballer's high profile move from the San Siro to Newcastle United in the summer.

United paid around £55million for the midfielder to join it on Tyneside, however three months later it was announced he would spend 10 months on the sidelines due to illegal betting.

Naturally that's the biggest news story surrounding Tonali since joining Newcastle, the second was far sillier.

In September, a fan spotted Tonali in Gosforth's Wetherspoons, taking a photo with him and his reservation sign. The photo went viral with many thinking some of his Newcastle teammates put him onto Spoons as a prank and the internet couldn't get enough.

The 23-year-old was asked about the moment ahead of Newcastle's last head-to-head with AC Milan on Matchday 1 of the Champions League, much to people's delight.

"After the game against Villa I had asked people about places and restaurants to spend a night with my family," said Tonali. "I didn’t receive the answer I was expecting. I spent the night in a pub in my city.

"You don’t usually go to the pub with family but it was a special night! Fun!”

And it seems AC Milan fans have taken his word for it.

Ahead of United's second match against the Italian's, a large group of their fans have been seen drinking outside The Mile Castle. And to all of you none Geordies, it's one of Wetherspoons' most popular establishments in the city centre.

Newcastle United Supporters' Club posted a photo of the black and red-clad fans outside the pub to social media with the hilarious caption: 'Mile Castle full of Milan fans based on the recommendation of Sandro Tonali.'
