It's been a whirlwind year and a half at Newcastle United with big-money Saudi owners leading to an upturn in form that culminated in reaching the Carabao Cup final last month.

There's been a frenzy of attention into the club, performances on the pitch and morality of owners which has rocketed Magpies stars into the limelight.

Time away from the flashing lights and video cameras is at a premium and many Newcastle stars make the most of their home lives with a furry friend.

Stars have spoken out about the importance of their dogs in helping them unplug and NewcastleWorld takes a look at eight Newcastle players with adorable four-legged friends.

Alexander Isak

The image of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak casually walking his dog along the streets of the city had fans chuckling on social media earlier this year.

It's clearly not taken the Swede long to settle in the North East since arriving last summer and he was seen walking his pet while sporting full Newcastle United training gear.

Fans joked that "of course he'd have a Doberman" and that the four-legged friend was "literally him as a dog".

Allan Saint-Maximin

Allan Saint-Maximin and his dogs hit the headlines in 2021 when his pets escaped his Jesmond home and were left roaming the streets.

Local students found the dogs and waited with them until the winger rolled up in his Bentley to retrieve them.

Saint-Maximin came under criticism from Battersea Cats & Dogs Home at the time for not taking better care of his dogs.

Bruno Guimaraes

Bruno Guimaraes' two dogs are some of the very cutest belonging to Newcastle stars.

The pets are often in the background of pictures and videos shared by the Brazilian online.

Just yesterday, Bruno was getting some press-ups in at home whilst one of his furry friends stood guard by the door.

Eddie Howe

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was interviewed by SkySports while walking his dog across the Town Moor in the city.

Or, rather, his dog was walking him. Howe looked to be pulled along the path by a very keen pet as he talked to Keith Downie.

One supporter joked: "If our performance is as strong as Eddie Howe’s dog, we’ll be lifting that trophy later on."

Joe Willock

Midfielder Joe Willock got dog Teddy in order to help him settle in the North East after completing the move from Arsenal.

The fluffy pet is called Teddy and even has his own Instagram page.

"Missed you guys, I have been busy getting stuck in the mud, oopsie," Teddy wrote on social media in January.

Martin Dubravka

Martin Dubravka's cheeky dog has been filmed causing mayhem in the background of interviews from the star's home.

The pet is named Shay, with some Newcastle fans wondering if inspiration might have come from former Magpies shot-stopper Shay Given.

Loris Karius

The talk of the town a week ago, Loris Karius is another Magpies star with a furry friend.

Named Banksy, the goalkeeper regularly poses for photos whilst out on dog walks and uploads them online.

In Covid, Karius took to uploading whole photo albums dedicated to his pet when "stuck at home".

Ryan Fraser

Ryan Fraser hasn't posted any images of his dog Maisie since 2016 but has spoken about the importance his pet plays in his life.

When playing at Ipswich in 2015, he told the BBC: "My dog, Maisie, just gave me something to do after training. I can come home, take her out and just be a normal person."
