It was a winning weekend for Newcastle United across the board after 1-0 wins for both the men's and women's teams.

Eddie Howe's side recorded a sixth consecutive Premier League victory at St James' Park against Manchester United on Saturday night with Anthony Gordon's 55th-minute goal sending the Magpies up to sixth in the league table. It also saw Newcastle record three straight wins over the Red Devils for the first time since 1922.

Less than 24 hours later, Becky Langley's Lasses welcomed West Bromwich Albion to Kingston Park and Becky Ferguson's late winner maintained the Lady Magpies' unbeaten start to the season, and move top of the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division table.

Indeed, both team's efforts haven't gone unnoticed with co-owner Amanda Staveley issuing a message on social media.

She posted on Instagram: "Wow what a result!!! Congratulations to all our amazing NUFC men and women over this weekend - incredible performance from both teams.

"I’m humbled by the extraordinary talent - but more importantly, the huge courage our men and women show at every game. Brilliant, inspiring coaching as usual from Eddie, Jason, Graeme and the gang.
