A week has passed since the January transfer window closed and Newcastle United are now fully focused on their attempt to achieve success in both the Carabao Cup and Premier League.
As it stands, Eddie Howe’s men are firmly in the race for a Champions League spot, sitting on place and one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur after Harry Kane’s landmark strike gave Antonio Conte’s side a narrow 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
This month could also provide a landmark moment for United as they look to claim a major trophy for the first time since 1969 and domestic silverware for the first time since 1955 when they face Manchester United in the final of the Carabao Cup.
But there is still serious attention being shown towards the next step in the development in their squad and several targets are being monitored ahead of the summer transfer window. With United constantly wary of financial fair play regulations, an option being explored is to bring in players out of contract at the end of the season.
