The 10 Newcastle neighbourhoods with the highest number of Wor Flags donors

Seeing the sea of black and white flags waving at St James’ Park is enough to make a grown man cry and these are the postcodes that help make it happen.

A trip to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United is a journey that has struck fear into Premier League opposition this season and that is in no small part down to Wor Flags.

The fan-run group are responsible for the incredible flag and scarf displays at the cathedral on the hill which put a lump in the throat of Magpies fans before every match at the home ground.

The group was first founded in 2016 as Gallowgate Flags following the side's relegation from the Premier League with the goal of boosting the mood in the stadium for the upcoming campaign.

Since then the movement evolved to be Wor Flags and, after a Mike Ashley boycott, returned to St James' Park after the takeover in 2021.

Wor Flags aren't just for football and support pretty much anything that loves Newcastle United as much as they do - when Sam Fender played two sold-out shows at the Utilita Arena last year the crowd was filled with black and white flags.

The group wouldn't be able to do the work it does without people donating to the cause and this week released data showing the Newcastle postcodes with the highest number of donors in a bid to encourage those who don't already and can afford to do so, to chip in.
