The ‘belta’ Newcastle United murals taking over North East as Carabao Cup fever soars

Newcastle United murals are taking over the North East courtesy of local artist Imogen, and people can’t get enough of them.

Carabao Cup fever is taking over Newcastle as the countdown to the big day at Wembley ticks on and one local who is helping drive excitement is freelance mural artist Imogen Clarke.

The illustrator is known for creating head-turning window displays which are sought out by companies all over the North East.

Usually, Imogen works on seasonal pieces of art with spooky designs for Halloween, festive pieces for Christmas and even cartoon designs for private family commissions.

At the moment, it seems that all the artist is being asked to paint in business windows are murals wishing Newcastle United well for when they return to Wembley Stadium for the first time since 2000.

Some of Eddie Howe's men's most famous faces, such as Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn and Bruno Guimaraes are standing large and proud alongside black and white illustrations in a growing number of shops in our area.

Imogen's artwork is being shared all over social media by impressed Newcastle fans who praise the creations as "another belta" and "another maserpiece".
