Former Premier League midfielder and Scotland international Don Hutchinson says he ‘can’t believe’ Newcastle United signed Bruno Guimaraes.
The Brazilian was on a number of European clubs’ radar after shinning for Lyon during his two years in France. However, the Magpies swooped in under their noses to seal a £35million deal in January.

Hide AdGuimaraes has immediately become a fans’ favourite on Tyneside via a string of top-class performances - the latest being his two goals in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Brentford.
“He’s a cult hero,” Hutchison, a boyhood Newcastle fan, told Premier League Productions.
“What a player and what a signing. I still can’t believe Newcastle got him. £3m. He plays the game like it’s easy for him.
“He plays as a holding midfield player and he still gets forward. Brilliant ability. He plays for Brazil as the number eight and (Luas) Paqueta plays as the number ten.

The 24-year-old’s progress at St James’ Park is being tracked by 14-time European champions Real Madrid, but Guimaraes wants to become a Newcastle United “legend”.
“I never doubted the project, I believe in it,” Guimaraes said recently. “I always wanted to play in the Premier League and I am now just enjoying that.
“The ground love me and I love them. I want to keep going. I want to be a legend here. Real Madrid is the best team in the world. It is nice but it is just a conversation, it is nothing.”
