Newcastle United defender Dan Burn believes Miguel Almiron is “unplayable sometimes” and Bruno Guimaraes is “world-class”.

Almiron is one of four United players to start every Premier League game so far this season and has hit top form in recent weeks - following up his brace at Fulham with another goal against Brentford on Saturday.

It’s arguably the Paraguayan’s best run of form since moving to St James’ Park in January 2019 from Atlanta United with his four goals so far equalling his previous season’s best.

Burn told talkSPORT: “I think that it’s a big confidence thing as well, particularly with players like Miggy [Almiron] who maybe wasn’t playing as well at the start of his career here.

“I think it’s that confidence and knowing that the manager has got that belief in you to go and do the things he’s doing.

“I think he’s unplayable sometimes.”

Guimaraes, meanwhile, has been the talk of Tyneside after netting a brace during Saturday’s 5-1 victory over the Bees.

The Brazilian has only made 17 starts in Newcastle colours since signing from Ligue 1 side Lyon in January but has already stolen Geordie hearts.

The 24-year-old revealed this week Real Madrid have spoken to him, which suggests the current Champions League holders will be keeping a firm eye on the midfielder’s progress.

That won’t come as a surprise to anybody, not least his Magpies teammate Burn.

Blyth-born Burn continued: “Bruno [Guimaraes] is one of those rare players who has got that class where you can give them the ball anywhere and the way he moves his body and moves the ball and stuff. He’s really world-class.”
