'Together' - New Newcastle United partnership teased in social media post as Anthony Gordon spotted

The three-way partnership involving Newcastle United has been teased.

Newcastle United’s official airline sponsor Saudia have teased a new three-way partnership involving Formula E.

Rumours of the collaboration first came to light last month when images spread on social media of a film crew and a black and white Formula E car at different parts of Newcastle Upon Tyne - from the Quayside, Monument & Central Arcade and St James’ Park.

The car itself displayed the logos of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia - who own 80% of Newcastle United - and Saudia, as well as a number of other businesses who invest into the Formula E.

The full details have not yet been disclosed but that is set to change very soon. On X, formerly known as Twitter, Saudia have posted a 20-second promotional video, which features a ‘Secret Driver’. Newcastle stars Anthony Gordon and Elliot Anderson also feature just as the ‘Secret Driver’ prepares to take off their helmet. The caption read: “Saudia, @FIAFormulaE , and @NUFC together for the first time. Our #SecretDriver reveals the story soon! Stay tooned! #TakeYourSeat“.

It has left supporters in a frenzy, with some wondering if it could be a new sponsorship deal to help the club combat Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) ahead of the summer transfer window.

Newcastle announced a multi-year deal with Saudia in October last year after they flew Eddie Howe’s side to Riyadh for warm-weather training and a match against Al-Hilal in December 2022.

Newcastle’s chief commercial officer, Peter Silverstone, said: "This is a natural step in our growing relationship with Saudia and follows our hugely successful partnership in 2022.

"We were incredibly impressed with Saudia, both on board our flights to and from the Middle East, and in what we experienced as our teams activated our partnership during the 2022/23 season. Saudia's partnership activations were extremely well received by our growing local and global fanbase, with incredible digital results being achieved by both parties.

"Our ambition is to grow Newcastle United globally and to become the most popular Premier League club in Saudi Arabia and other territories around the world.

"Saudia will open up new markets for Newcastle United as we strengthen our connection with fans across the globe. We are very excited about the journey ahead. We relish the challenge and opportunity to support Saudia as it looks to expand its route network, and reach new audiences, through the huge global awareness Newcastle United can provide."

PIF are Formula E’s principal partner while Saudia are the sport’s official airline partner.
