Hugeo Ekitike transfer saga set for January sequel

The Hugo Ekitike transfer saga is poised for a bumper return to the forefront come the January transfer window. The Frenchman was poised to join the Magpies last year but pulled out last minute in favour of the French giants, where he went to turn a loan move into a permanent deal last summer. However, the 21-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Parc des Princes and is hotly tipped to make that long-awaited Tyneside move.

It is believed that Newcastle United would be keen to strike a loan deal, but CaughtOffisde reports that PSG would want to cash in on the player with £34 million enough for the side to push him out of the club and towards the Premier League.

Football Insider reports that the 28-year-old's impressive performances when called on by Eddie Howe have got the two Premier League sides ready to offer the midfielder more consistent playing time.

Murphy has been a reliable squad player under Howe and is a big presence in the changing room but both Palace and Forest could be readying bids for the star, who has been at St James' Park since 2017. The outlet reports that the two sides have enquired over a price tag for the player, who had made nine appearances this term, and joined Newcastle United for £12 million six years ago.
