West Ham United’s January signing Danny Ings could make a surprise appearance against Newcastle United tomorrow.

Ings, signed from Aston Villa for £15million, suffered a minor knee injury on his debut in a 2-0 victory over Everton last month.

The 30-year-old was expected to miss the upcoming games against the Magpies and Chelsea, however boss David Moyes admits he could play a part on Tyneside.

He said: “Danny Ings is doing quite well and has a chance for tomorrow. Everyone knows what he’s capable of. Let’s hope he’s able to show that.”

It was reported earlier this week Ings had been been given a jab in his knee to speed up his recovery.

With Gianluca Scamacca also out injured, Michail Antonio, who was reportedly close to leaving the Hammers in January, had led the line in back-to-back wins against Everton and Derby County in the FA Cup fourth round.

“We have a good side,” Moyes told Football.London. “We’ve not shown it as much as we should have done. We’re getting closer to the business end of the season and the last few games have given us something to talk about.”
