Newcastle United were taken over by Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia consortium in October last year and the club has been transformed since then.
The doom and gloom over St James’ Park during Mike Ashley’s tenure as owner has been lifted and the team will be looking to compete with the big boys in the new season.
Eddie Howe’s side have delved into the transfer market this summer to sign goalkeeper Nick Pope from Burnley, centre-back Sven Botman from Lille and left-back Matt Targett on a permanent basis from Aston Villa after he impressed on loan last term.
First up for Newcastle is a home clash against newly promoted Nottingham Forest this weekend and they will be eager to start off with a win in front of their own fans. They then have an away trip to Brighton and Hove Albion for their second game.
