Worrying Kieran Trippier to Bayern Munich 'update' as Newcastle United claim made

Bayern Munich haven't given up hope of signing Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier.

Bayern Munich are 'very optimistic' of completing a deal for Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier with a final transfer decision set to be made today.

That's according to German newspaper BILD, who claims there has been a breakthrough in negotiations. A fee between £8.5million and £12.8m has reportedly been discussed however Newcastle have been in consistent in their message that the England international is not for sale.

Bayern first made contact over Trippier last week but the Magpies were quick to reject their approach. NewcastleWorld understands the 33-year-old is open to the idea of joining former Tottenham Hotspur and England teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier in Germany but won't push for a move.

The 33-year-old joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid two years ago and has played an instrumental role in the success that has followed. Last season, he started every Premier League game as United qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

He was rewarded with a new contract last year - extending his stay on Tyneside until 2025 - but there has been some doubt surrounding his future after Newcastle CEO Darren Eales recently admitted every player has a price as the club looks to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Not only Trippier but both Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron have also been the subject of transfer speculation. AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have asked about Wilson while Almiron is attracting interest from Saudi Pro League clubs Al Shabab and Al Ahli.
