It’s advantage Newcastle, with Eddie Howe’s side leading 2-0 from their first-leg win at the Emirates. It marked United’s seventh victory in a row but four weeks on, and the momentum has switched.
Arsenal thrashed Premier League champions Manchester City 5-1 at the weekend, while Newcastle suffered a second successive St James’ Park defeat after Fulham came from behind to win 2-1.

The loss was then compounded when Howe revealed after the match that Joelinton had been suffering with a knee injury.
“Yeah, he was suffering with a knee injury, which was a shame,” said Howe. “He was struggling in that second half.”
And that worry has only increased through images that have emerged in the last couple of days. Joelinton was at Newcastle’s training ground on Sunday celebrating his son’s birthday and was pictured with his right leg in a brace.
Howe will provide an update on the Brazilian’s fitness when he addresses the media on Tuesday morning. Joe Willock came on for Joelinton against Fulham, but Howe also has Lewis Miley and Sean Longstaff at his disposal.

Wilson missed the opening four months of the season because of a back and hamstring issue. He returned at the end of November but after four substitute appearances suffered a setback.
“Callum will be there or thereabouts,” said Howe on Saturday. “I think he's trained, as I said, on Friday a couple of times. He's been good. Obviously I'll speak to everyone connected with Callum and his welfare and make sure we involve them at the right time.”
United are currently light on attacking options with Harvey Barnes injured and Miguel Almiron no longer at the club after re-joining Atlanta United last week.
