The popular low-price pub chain confirmed on Friday afternoon that its venues across the country will be showing the grand final when it kicks off at 5 pm on Sunday, July 31.

Wetherspoon pubs rarely show sports fixtures but are making the exception as the Lionesses prepare to take on rivals Germany to close what has been an astounding tournament for Sarina Wiegman’s women.

The final is being shown on BBC, rather than the likes of Sky Sports and BT Sport, which is why the chain is able to show the match.

Other locations where Geordies can watch the game in Newcastle include the large screen at Central Park, where free tickets must be reserved beforehand, and NE1's Summer in the City pop-up at the Old Eldon Square.

Many independent pubs and bars across Tyneside will also show the match.
