Newcastle Eagles prepare for UK basketball final after win over London Lions
Newcastle Eagles are heading to another final this season as they look to win the UK Super League Basketball playoff final.
The team, who play their home games at the Vertu Motors Arena on Scotswood Road, qualified for the final of the UK’s highest level basketball competition with a two legged semi final win over London Lions.
A return to the capital is now coming very soon with the team preparing for a one-off playoff final against the Leicester Riders.
It has been an impressive end to the year for the Eagles, who have already made history thanks to their first ever European North Basketball League semi final.
They will now face a strong Riders team who finished second in the Super League Basketball Championship standings this year, compared to the Tyneside team’s fifth place finish.
However, after a strong playoff campaign the Eagles will now head to London as one of the best teams in the country.
The final will take place on Sunday, May 18 at the O2 Arena in London.
Tickets are available for the day of basketball action now with access including the chance to watch both the mens and womens final. These can be picked up through the team’s online box office.
Anyone unable to head to the final in London can watch the game on broadcaster DAZN’s app or website.
