Festival lineup season has officially started and North East music fans will be on the search to see Sam Fender once again in the new year. The North Shields local had a hugely impressive year in 2022 and will want to replicate the success of his Seventeen Going Under in 2023.

This year saw Fender play two nights at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena as well as a sold out headline show at Finsbury Park on Friday, July 15. He also played a stunning Glastonbury set on the Friday of the world famous festival but released a statement at the end of the summer saying he would take some time away from touring to look after his mental health, after admitting that he was “burnt out” from time on the road.

His second album, Seventeen Going Under, was also shortlisted for the Mercury Prize this year.

Where is Sam Fender playing in 2023?

Music fans across the North East will already be fully aware of Fender’s biggest dates of 2023. The North Shields local announced two dates at St James’ Park in Newcastle, although tickets for the shows on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 are both sold out. Secondhand tickets may become available through Twickets, although demand is expected to be high.

Fender is also preparing to play two huge shows across the Irish Sea with the singer/songwriter headlining one night each at Belsonic in Belfast and Malahide Castle in Dublin on Friday, June 23 and Sunday, June 25 respectively. Support is yet to be announced for both shows but tickets are now available through Ticketmaster.

Fender fans may not need to head west to see him this year as some could head north to see him at TRNSMT Festival. The three day Glasgow event is being headlined by Pulp, Fender and The 1975. One day tickets will soon be available with Fender playing on the same day as Kasabian, Aitch, Inhaler, Maisie Peters and Brooke Combe. Other artists are yet to be announced.

TRNSMT tickets go on sale on Friday, November 4 with various pre-sale events happening the days before.

More dates are expected to be announced in the build up to next summer.
