Central Park will be returning to Newcastle's Times Square this year to bring some of the summer's most popular events to the big screen.

Organisers are promising an "even bigger and better" set-up than last year.

The pop-up venue will open for 2022 in April and welcome customers throughout the summer months as Geordies enjoy outdoor drinking, street food and a range of entertainment.

Central Park will open on Thursday, April 14 and stay in place until Sunday, August 21.

The pop-up venue will be open seven days a week from midday to midnight and can hold up to 800 people.

Co- Organiser, Mike Hesketh said: “Last year was an amazing experience creating a social space for everyone to enjoy coming out of the pandemic and entering the phenomenal Euro 2020s, but this year we have stepped up the site and created some amazing multi-level, unique themed spaces for folk to enjoy all Spring and Summer long."

New additions to the set-up include a rooftop bar overlooking the main bar, a food court, a sports bar and more heated spaces.

There's also a brand new performance stage.

An expanded programme of events will be on show featuring last year’s favourites such as the Eurovision watch-along party, Kroud Karaoke and Let’s Play Darts.

All of the Summer’s major sporting events including the FA Cup Final, Wimbledon and Royal Ascot will be shown on the venue’s 4k LED screen.

Gabriel Day, co-organiser said: “How excited we are to have a full Times Square event space for all to visit.

"Last year due to Covid restrictions the site was just 500 seated only capacity and now it’s up to 2000, so it’s going to be an even more vibrant, party destination this year!”
