Glastonbury has officially arrived, opening its gates to campers from around the world on Wednesday.

The music side of the festival will not commence until Friday 24 June

Glastonbury is a five day festival that brings some of the biggest musical stars from around the world to play.

The festival is a staple for British summer time with people from around the world gunning for tickets when they go on sale.

This year’s big headliner is Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

However, this year the line-up of other headliners and acts scheduled to play includes stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, and The North East’s very own Sam Fender.

When is Glastonbury?

Glastonbury will run from Wednesday 22 June until Sunday 26 June but the musical acts are scheduled to kick off until Friday 24 June.

Where is Glastonbury?

The festival is held at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.

When is Sam Fender playing Glastonbury?

Sam Fender will be playing the iconic Pyramid Stage at 8.15pm on Friday 24 June. He will be the second last act to perform of the night with Billie Eilish scheduled to perform just after.

The stage has previously been played by the likes of Beyonce, The Cure, and Van Morrison who has performed seven times at the festival.

Sam’s set is scheduled to be an hour long from 8:15pm to 9:15pm.

How can I watch the performance?

With the event being one of the most popular festivals in the world tickets for the festival have long sold out and usually sell out within minutes.

So fans hoping to catch Sam Fender perform will have to watch online after the show or via a live broadcast.

The festival will be available on BBC iPlayer, and like previous years you will have the opportunity to watch endless Glastonbury coverage via the BBC Glastonbury website, where you will be able to choose which stage to watch from.

Met Office reports suggest that the weather on Friday 24 June is set to be cooler than previous days with cloud developing, however, it looks to be dry for the most part.

Deputy Chief Forecaster Daniel Rudman spoke on the weather forecast for the weekend and suggested that fans may need their wellies for Sam’s performance: “From Friday onward the weather will become more unsettled.”

“There is a risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms in the Glastonbury area on both Friday and Saturday, although these should be quick moving, some surface water might accumulate at times from the heaviest showers.

“Temperatures will start to dip as we go through the end of the week returning to near normal for the time of year, with highs likely around 18-20C.”
