LooseFest organisers broke the news to ticket holders, via social media, as they wrote: “We deeply regret to announce that despite previous weather assurances and the best efforts by our festival and site team, unfortunately for reasons beyond our control LOOSEFEST23 is cancelled this weekend. We have been advised by the safety team and local authorities are in agreement that the festival site is not safe to open.

“With more heavy rain due over the weekend unfortunately we have been instructed that it will be a full festival cancellation.

“We appreciate this is absolutely devastating news. The safety of you guys, our artists and crew is priority as these shows and they cannot happen without you!

“Ticket and refund updates to follow, please bear with us”

However, over a month later, ticket holders are yet to receive a refund from the festival. Many unhappy customers took to social media to ask about their refunds. One person wrote: “@loosefest any date on when everyone is getting their refund for the cancelled Newcastle event? Already been 4 weeks with no update from @skiddlehelp on time frame as they say they don’t have the funds yet”.

Another wrote: “Calling all @loosefest #loosefest people. Has anyone had their refund yet? @skiddle what is going on? Not only was it bad that the festival was cancelled with no notice after everyone had spent money on hotels and travel, but now a month later we are still waiting for a refund. Who can we complain to? When is this going to be sorted?”

LooseFest organisers have now reassured customers that their insurers will release an “interim payment”, with priority to ticket refunds.
