Every Tyneside JD Wetherspoon pub surviving major cuts ranked by TripAdvisor reviews

Where does your local Wetherspoon chain rank according to the pub connoisseurs on TripAdvisor?

Late last month budget pub chain JD Wetherspoon announced that a number of their sites across the UK were being put up for sale as a result of the rising cost of living.

A total of 32 Wetherspoon pubs across the country could go out of business as they hit the market, including two in the North East.

Luckily, for fans of the Tim Martin-owned watering holes in Newcastle, none of those are on Tyneside. The Water House in Durham and Resolution in Middlesbrough are the two geographically closest pubs being sold to free up funds.

The chain has labelled the news a "commercial decision" as the cost of staff wages and repair works climb - the group had previously reported it could face losses of £30 million.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "On occasion Wetherspoon does put some of its pubs up for sale. This is a commercial decision. We understand that customers and staff will be disappointed with it."

With all of Tyneside's Wetherspoon pubs staying open, NewcastleWorld has a look at how the 12 sites in Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Gateshead rank according to TripAdvisor reviews.

All the chain venues score 3.5 stars, apart from the one in last place which scored 3 stars. We've totted up the TripAdvisor marks for atmosphere, service, value and food to make a total out of 20.
