Great North Run 2022 ballot results announced THIS WEEK

Great North Run 2022 ballot applicants will be told if they have been successful this week.

The competitive ballot closed this morning on Monday, February 21 and thousands will be hoping they are in luck to gain a place.

There is hot competition in the ballot, with many missing out each year.

Having opened for entrants earlier this year, it's been a long wait for hopeful runners to find out their fate, but that is coming to an end.

When will the Great North Run 2022 ballot results be announced?

The Great Run organisers have said that all entrants to the ballot will receive an email with the outcome by 5 pm on Friday, February 25.

Organisers have reminded hopefuls that even if they receive an email saying they have a place on the start line, this isn't confirmed until the £59 has been taken from your account.

Once that's all been sorted, you better get training!

What if I miss out on the Great North Run ballot?

Given the event's popularity, many hopefuls will not find success in the ballot.

However, that doesn't mean you can't take part in the iconic Tyneside event.

You still have time to run for a charity.

That means getting in touch with one of the many charities that have places in the Great North Run and committing to raising a set amount of money in return for your place.

Can I transfer my Great North Run place?

If you are successful in the Great North Run Ballot but get the heebie-jeebies about running, you can defer your place to next year.

It means you will have your place in the event guaranteed for 2022, without having to go through the ballot system again.

This must be done before Friday, July 1 and getting a refund is not an option.
