A temporary parking suspension had been put in place by Newcastle Council to allow for the filming.

It's the second time in less than a week that the Vera crew has been spotted in the city centre, after shutting down part of the Quayside in Newcastle last Tuesday.

It's good news for fans of the show, which showcases the best of the North East, with new episodes seemingly imminent.

Signage around Newcastle Cathedral warned pedestrians of compliance to be photographed or recorded.

No cast and crew could be seen filming but cameras and microphones were positioned outside the cathedral.

There was also a sign stating that Cafe 16, found inside the Cathedral, would be closed between 1 pm and 2 pm today - lining up with the presence of the film crew.

The British crime series follows the work of Vera Stanhope based on a series of novels by Ann Cleves.

The show was first broadcast in May 2011 and stars Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope.

Series 11 of the show was first aired in August 2021 and continued in January of this year.
